This instructional video is used to demonstrate my ability to create an effective filmmaking project. Over 100 minutes of footage was shot to create this 2 1/2 minute video. Along with a digital camera, iMovie and GarageBand were used in the making of this video. Filmmaking best practices were used to produce this effective instructional tool.
Below is the final video, followed by the storyboards used to create it.
Drafting storyboards is extremely important for creating videos. Not only does it allow filmmakers stay true to project restraints such as time limits and shot designs, it helps them to stay organized, as well as optimize production and work flow.
Below is the storyboard for Scene #1. It features intended content for the introduction of the video, as well as how the lighting will be positioned and subject will be located. The narration is also laid out on the storyboard, along with the intended background music.
As you can see, the first few shots of the video will incorporate the ingredients. Since this is an instructional video on how to make cornbread, it is important for the viewer to visualize the ingredients for the lesson.
For Scene #2 below, various shot angles are shown, representing how the subject matter will be filmed in this section of video. As the subject stands and carries out the action, there will be close-ups of the content so that the viewer will gain a good understanding with how the ingredients mix together.
For Scene #3 below, the shots will show the viewer how the mixture is poured into the pan, gets placed into the oven, and how long the mixture should bake. Close-up shots of the pan in their scenario helps the learner understand how they should be placing the mixture into the pan. It is a great way to demonstrate each step of the baking process.
Lastly, Scene #4 showcases the final product. This will help viewers get a good idea that they have successfully accomplished the lesson. There are many people out there who need a visual cue to help ensure successful learning.
